How to protect your plants from being killed by frost
It’s every gardening enthusiast’s worst nightmare; spending hours tending to your fruit, plants and more, only to discover they’ve been ruined by a late frost. That’s where our high-quality mini polytunnels come in.
A polythene cloche is ideal for 'double glazing' your polytunnel. Using a polythene cloche inside your polytunnel during the colder months gives your plants extra protection from the cold British winters, keeping the frost off your crops and saving you money on heating costs.
As polythene cloches are designed to protect plants from cold and frost, it’s only fitting that they’re made from the most durable materials.
Our polytunnel cloche hoops are made using 28mm diameter high tensile galvanised steel, which will last for years. All the timber base rails used on our polythene grow tunnels are pressure treated with a wood preserver to protect against rot. When it comes to the cloche tunnel cover, it’s fixed securely using timber battens and nails.
The polythene cover used for our cloches is a clear, 480 gauge/120 micron polythene film – four times thicker and stronger than a cloche or dust film – with a 2-year warranty against UV degradation.
What size mini polytunnels are available?
Our polythene cloches are 4ft wide and 3ft 7in high, making them ideal for using on raised beds. They are supplied with 2 extension legs to allow for quick access and ventilation.
