Efficient Ways To Water Your Polytunnel

When the summer holidays have started, the kids have finished school, your holiday is booked, and your suitcase is packed... who can you trust you water your plants? This is where polytunnel irrigation comes into play.

Regular, careful watering of your polytunnel plants is essential during the summer months. The best way to water a polytunnel to reduce the amount of water lost through evaporation, is to water your plants early in the morning or in the evening, rather than during the heat of the day.

Our polytunnel irrigation kits are overhead watering systems which provide you with a simple and effective way of bringing water to your tunnel, ensuring that the plants you have tended and nurtured receive just the right amount of water.

It is essential to consider both the water supply and pressure when watering large areas, therefore here at Premier Polytunnels we have used our expertise to design polytunnel watering systems you can rely on.

These kits are simple to install – a polythene water delivery pipe fits to the roof of your polytunnel with sprinklers on drop tubes placed at approximately every 1.2m along the length of the tunnel. The pipe continues down the door frame where it is connected to a garden hose and the system is manually operated as and when you want to water your plants.

Smaller garden polytunnels are supplied with a single central irrigation line. Larger garden tunnels have two irrigation lines running along the length, and commercial polytunnels have two or three irrigation lines, ensuring full coverages right up to the edge.

As water supply can vary from town to town and, often, month to month, our two and three line Overhead Irrigation kits are supplied with control values to allow you to make the best of your water supply by avoiding waste by not watering unused areas.

Our Premier Irrigation kits are the ideal way of ensuring you can go on holiday safe in the knowledge that the plants you have tended and nurtured will still be watered regularly, with the right amount of water, at the right time of day. These automatic irrigation kits are just like our Overhead Irrigation kits, but they also include an adjustable pressure regulator for areas where water pressure is high, and a top of the range battery operated tap timer, doing away with the need for a watering can or even the presence of a person! (Tap timers are also available to buy separately and will fit to any polytunnel watering systems with a hose pipe).

There is no need to worry about whether or not your friend, neighbour or family member will remember to water your plants!
